Keyboard not work?Chrome book keyboards are divided into two different parts. The top row is called "dedicated shortcut keys" and beneath that is the main keyboard.
Dedicated shortcut keys:
These keys have been disable on your chrome book and will not be reenabled.
Main keyboard
If the main keyboard is not working follow these steps before coming to see Mr. Rente.
1. Plug your charger into your chrome book
2. Check if your chrome book needs to be updated
3. Restart your chrome book
If the keyboard continues not to work shut down the chrome and wait 15 seconds and turn it back on. If nothing changes please come see Mr. Rente

Laptop not turning on?Most common reason is the battery is dead. Please remember to not just close your chrome book but to click the button right, then click the power button icon and click "shut down". If you hold the power button down for 5 seconds and no light appears, then the chrome book is dead.
If you plug the charger in and the light blinks orange, then your chrome book is on extremely low battery. When the light turns a solid orange, it means the chrome books is battery usually under 50%.
If the light is a solid white, then your battery is above 50% or more.
If your chrome book will only work with the charger plugged in, then their is an issue with the battery. Please come see Mr. Rente ASAP.

Touch
Screen not working?Grades 4 through 8 have touchscreen chrome books. If the touchscreen stops working please come see Mr.Rente ASAP to determine what the issue is.

Not able to log in?If you are unable to sign into your chrome book it could be one of three different reasons.
1. Check the keyboard layout. If your device isn't up to date the keyboard layout option can change. Click the button right where the time is.
This menu should appear. Click "Keyboard".
Make sure US English is selected. Sometimes it will default to CO English when not updated.
2. Check to see if caps lock is enable. To disable and enable caps lock press Alt and Search at the same the time.
A small text square will appear telling you if caps lock is on or off.
3. Check for updates. Usually the chrome book will install updates behind the scenes and all you have to do is restart the device.
If none of the above work please come see Mr. Rente ASAP.

Rules for Taking your chrome book homeIt is at the teachers discretion if the students can take their chrome book home. If they do they must abide by these rules.
1. The chrome book must come back the next school day.
2. The chrome book needs to be full charged.
3. If the charger is taken home it must come back as well.
4. Any equipment such as headphones or mice must be returned to school.
If these rules are broken the following punishments are applied.
1. One recess detention for the day the chrome book isn't brought to school and a conduct referral.
2. After school detention and email explaining the rules to the parents.
3. A weeks worth of recess detention, two after school detentions, and letter/phone call to home.
After the third infraction we have to assume the chrome book is missing and a $500 fee will be sent to the parents/guardian of the student.

Prices for replacement school equipmentDepending on how the device was damaged and how damaged it is will determine who is at fault for either repairs or new devices. Students are expected to treat the chrome books with care and respect. Prices for replacements are listed below.
Inoperable chrome books/damaged beyond repair - $500
Missing/broken/destroyed chargers - $50
Missing or broken mouse - $25
Missing or broken case - $25
If a part or feature of the chrome book is damaged but the device is functionable, the administrative staff and IT team can come to an agreement with the student and parents/guardians that instead of replacing the chrome book, your student will have to remain using the "damaged" unit until further notice. This only applies to devices damaged by students or family and they are at fault. If something happens to the chrome book, please see Mr. Rente immediately.
