Good Evening Saint Joseph School Community. I pray all had a blessed, restful, peaceful Thanksgiving recess. As we prepare to return back to school, I hope all are well and safe. Prior to our recess, we distributed COVID home test to all students who were in attendance. With Covid still in the air, as well as other viruses, we wanted to help our families have something to help protect themin case somonein their home became ill. Good afternoon Saint Joseph School Community. We continue to pray that all are well and safe. We all have so much to be thankful during this season We ask for your prayers for special intentions for those who are in need of our prayers that God will strengthen and keep them in His care.
This is an important message being sent so we may all prepare for the week ahead. It seems despite our efforts to be vigilant in disinfecting, cleaning, hand washing, we just can't seem to do enough to protect ourselves from these viruses. COVID is alive and spreading, the flu is on the rise and just the general cold. We must go back to wearing masks and keeping our distance. If your child is sick and complains of any symptoms, headache, coughing, chills fever, vomiting, diarrhea, fatigue, body aches, please keep them home and possibly see a doctor.
All faculty and staff and anyone entering the building coming to the office must wear a mask. Parents/guardians it is optional for students, but it is highly recommended that students wear a mask while in school. Please encourage your child about social distancing, hands free, and avoid touching their neighbor while in
school. .
This week is a short week. School will be open full days only Monday November 20 and Tuesday November 21 full days. We will be closed Wednesday November 22 thru Friday November 24. We will reopen Monday November 27, 2023. There will be aftercare.
The first Trimester will close this week. Any outstanding work must be completed by Tuesday. Students grades K thur 8 who have been out ill, will be given consideration by their teacher of work not completed due to illness. Any questions or concerns may be directed to their teacher by email.

Good evening Saint joseph School Community. I continue to pray that all are well and safe. Did you turn your clocks back one hour? I hope you enjoyed this beautiful weather we had this weekend. as we enter this season of Thanksgiving let us remember to thank God for the many blessings he has showered us all with. Please continue to pray for World Peace. During the month of November the Catholic Church celebrates Black History Month in memory of Black Saints and all who have passed on to heaven.
I must bring to your attention that as the weather is changing and flu season is here it is affecting many children who might have respiratory conditions, If your child is not feeling well , please keep them home. if a child is absent three or more days, a doctors note is required in order to return to school. Also Covid is still around. Remind your child about washing hands and using hand sanitizer. Right now mask are optional. The school has been disinfected over the weekend. It is important that we have your emergency information in the event we need to get in touch with you. If you change your number or move, the school office must be informed of any changes.
We now are in a second fundraiser "World Chocolate Bars" If you wish to participate, call the office or stop by and pick up a box, Each box costs $60.00. This can help you meet your fundraising commitment if he haven't already met the $500.00 obligation.
Please remember, Thursday November 9, 2023 is a 1:00 PM Dismissal for all classes and there is No Aftercare. Friday Only grade 8 will dismiss at 1:00 Pm due to their HSPT Test. If your child needs to remain, please contact the school office. Lunch will be served both days.

This week is a full week of school.
Tuesday October 31st we will have Halloween Costume Celebration for Grades PreK-3rd Grade.
Please no swords, masks, or any additional objects will be allowed in the building.
Students in grades PreK-3rd may wear their costumes to school.
4th-8th Grade will have a Tag Day for $1.00.
Students may dress in Halloween or Fall colors.
There will be no Tag Day on Thursday November 2nd.
Tap Dance and Hip Hop classes will take place this week.

You may pick up the chocolate boxes before November 1st.

This week is a full week of school. Regular entrance and dismissal times. Grades 2 thru 5 will visit Doyle Farms, Tuesday October 24, 2023. Students must arrive regular time 8:00 AM. Buses will begin loading at 8:30 AM. They will leave promptly at 9:00 AM. Students are to wear their gym uniforms. Students who do not eat school lunch must bring their lunch. Lunch will be provided for other students. Students may bring money to shop in souvenir shop. Students should arrive back at school between 3:15 and 3:30 PM. Aftercare will be available. Students not attending trip must stay home.

Good evening Saint Joseph School Community. This is an IMPORTANT Announcement. Parents/Guardians of Students who received a scholarship from Scholarship Fund for Inner city Children.
If you will be attending the event at Seton Hall University on October 26, 2023 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM sponsored by SFIC with Eric LeGrand the Rutgers Football player who was injured and now has an amazing organization "Believe" You must call St. Joseph School office or email kcavaness@stjosepheo.com if you will be attending. I received a call today from SFIC needing the number of persons attending so they can make sure they have enough refreshments.
The Scholarship Fund has helped many of our families with the scholarships which help you afford the tuition here. We are a school who receives many scholarships and we need to support these events given by SFIC throughout the school year.
Please let us know Tomorrow, October 17 if you will be attending and how many in your family will attend. They have even invited students and families who did not receive scholarships.

Good evening Saint Joseph School Community. I continue to pray for everyone's safety and health. We have been asking for our students to pray for world peace and pray for the souls of those who have lost their lives.
Those families who received scholarship awards from the Scholarship Fund for Inner City Children are asked to register by this Thursday October 19 for the event featuring Eric LeGrand at Seton Hall University on Thursday October 26 from 6:00 PM -8:00 PM . It is important that St. Joseph School participates. We are one of the elementary schools in the Archdiocese of Newark who has a large number of students who receive the scholarships. Even if you did not get a scholarship, students are invited to attend, Eric LeGrand is the Rutgers football player who was injured during a football game that left him paralyzed. Please St. Joseph let us show up and support this event. You must register for this event, Call Daisy Espana at 973-497-4581 or email daisy,espana@rcan.org.
On Wednesday October 18 grades Pre-K thru 1 will travel to Doyle Farm , in Flemington, NJ and on Friday October 20, grades 2 thru 5 will travel to Doyle Farm.
Students are to wear their gym uniforms and school lunch will be provided. If your child does not eat school lunch, they are to bring their lunch.
Students are to arrive at their regular time. Those students not attending are to remain home. Students can bring spending money. Place in envelope with name , grade and amount.
Please encourage and discuss with your child/children that taking part in ay school activities, field trips, basketball, and extra curicular activities is a privilege. It requires following school policy of good behavior, completing class assignments, and being respectful at all times.

Good evening Saint Joseph School Community. I continue to pray that everyone is well and safe. Praise God that the rains have finally stopped and we can look forward to a dry, sunny week. October has arrived and we're looking forward to the month of the Rosary, as we pray daily to our Mother Mary. who continues to intercede and protect all of us.
This week one of our afterschool activities will begin Learning to design Nails for girls in grades 6 thru 8. All girls participating must have a signed permission slip, donation $25.00 a month. The class will take place Monday and Wednesday from 3-5PM in the computer lab . The girls will be dismissed from Tremont Avenue exit. The other activities will take place beginning the week of October 9, 2023.
Boys and Girls basketball workouts and tryouts schedules will be sent home this week. Please lookout for the basketball parent meeting announcement soon.
This week's activities are as follows:
Fall Map Testing for grades 2 thru 8 will begin Tuesday October 3, 2023. Please make sure your child is getting a good night sleep, eats a good breakfast and does not become stressed. These tests advise the administration and teachers .of where there are gaps and guide in instruction in reading , math and language arts.
Testing will be done in the mornings only.
Monday thru Thursday are full days of school. Friday is a 1:00 dismissal with aftercare provided. The charge for those needing aftercare i1:00-3:00 is $20.00. If your child is enrolled in aftercare, no additional charge.
The monthly Breakfast/Lunch menus for October will be posted on the school Web page. The Fall Fundraiser has been extended to Friday October 13, 2023. All order forms and monies are due. You may place orders online.
Please review the Student/Parent Handbook about tardies. Students grades K thru 8 must be in the gym by 8:00 AM or before. Students are considered late if they arrive at 8:00 AM. Detentions will be given for 3- lates, warning notices will be sent for those students who had 5 or more lates in the month of September.
Sneakers can only be worn on gym days or Tag days. Thursday October 5 will be a Fall tag day. Tag day dress code policy will be in effect. Donation $2.00..

Good evening Saint Joseph School Community. I pray all are well and safe. I wish to thank everyone for the many birthday blessings and greetings I received over this past week. It's a blessing to see another year. As we together journey through this schoolyear, I pray we can work through the challenges we will face and resolve together. This year together we will live our motto, "Faith, Friends, Family, Future" .Through our Faith in God, we will gain Friends, continue to be a school Family and together prepare for our Future.

If you were unable to attend the meetings, there were important forms given out that must be signed out and returned to the school office no later than Tuesday September 19, 2023. If you need the forms, please contact the school office Monday September 18 and they will be sent home for you to sign and return. Also the Stay home packet and Student /Parent Handbook will also be sent home, this includes the tentative yearly school calendar.
.Our first Fall Fundraiser packets were distributed to each family through the oldest child in the family. It will run through October 6, 2023. If extra order sheets are needed, please contact the office.

Good evening Saint Joseph School Community, I continue to pray that all are well and safe. Congratulations to our school community as we got off to a great start despite the challenges of the heat Let us continue to pray and work together to meet all challenges we may face this schoolyear.
Students should come dressed in their gym uniforms on their gym days only. Due to the delay in delivery from our vendor, ,students may wear navy blue sweat pants with a gold or yellow tee shirt
The students in grade K-8 must be in the gym by 7:55AM or earlier .At 8:00AM they must enter through Telford Street. They will be considered late. Students must be in school uniform if not their gym day. Re-cycled clothing will be available after each meeting this week on the school stage.
Please prepare students the night before school so hey can arrive on time and have all that they need for school. Since all schools are open, please plan your travel time. Please make sure you have signed up for aftercare. The building opens at 6:30 AM each day Grades K-8 Breakfast served 7:30 AM-7:55 AM in little cafeteria.
This week we will have very important information meetings. Beginning at 5:00 PM you may arrive to fill out documents which must be kept on file for the school year
Beginning at 6:00PM an information meeting will be held. At least one person from each family must attend.
Monday- September 11- School is open full day. The following classes have gym:Prek-3, Prek-4, Grades K, 5, 3. Aftercare begins 3-6 PM

Thursday September 14- School Open Gym Classes Grades 4, 1, 2, 6: Tag day-School colors: Blue and gold. Tag day dress code policy in effect. No torn distressed or written on jeans or tee shirts. Boys no earrings. No midriffs, Knee length shorts. Donation $2.00. Grades K thru 5 ONLY mandatory information meeting 6:00 PM
Friday September 15- School open full day. Opening School Mass 9:00AM church, Gym classes grades 8, 3, 5, 7..Investment day-( Tuition due )
Breakfast and lunch menus are posted on School web page. (w ww.stjosepheo.com) If not eating school lunch, students must bring lunch from home. Please make sure you have listed all allergies. We can not heat food and we are a "Peanut Free School". No peanut butter sandwiches or any peanut foods allowed.

The oldest child in a family will go to the youngest child's dismissal door. All students not picked up by 3:00 PM will be placed in aftercare.

WELCOME to Saint Joseph School Community for the 2023-2024 school year. I pray that all are well and safe. I hope that you are enjoying this beautiful weather we are having over this weekend. We look forward to a great year where we will collaboratively create a school culture where there is a partnership with parents, teachers, and administration, to ensure the success for all students to reach their highest potential, academically, socially, emotionally , physically and spiritually, in a positive and safe environment. We will work to empower students to develop character, build confidence, and inspire them to be lifelong learners who take a vested interest in their learning.
Our caring and creative faculty and staff have done an amazing job in preparing creative and attractive learning spaces for our students We are looking forward to a successful school year.
The following is our schedule for the opening of Saint Joseph School. This week will be full days of school with no aftercare. Aftercare will begin Monday September 11, 2023. Breakfast and lunch will be served. You may drop off beginning 6:30 AM if necessary at Tremont Avenue entrance.

Tuesday September 5- Pre K 3 and Pre-K 4 opens; Hours 7:30 AM=4:00 PM- Entrance and Dismissal Crawford Street Entrance No Aftercare
Wednesday September 6- Friday September 8: Grades K-8 OPENS:. Arrival 8:00 AM: Students enter through Tremont Avenue. Prayers and Announcements will be held every morning in gymnasium. Please do not drop off in front of door on Tremont Avenue.
Dismissal 2:50 PM: Crawford Street: Grades K, 1, 2, Telford Street- Grades 3, 4, 5 Tremont Ave- Grades 6, 7, 8.
Breakfast and Lunch will be served beginning first day of school. We do not heat food brought from home. We are a Peanut Free School. Healthy Snacks are encouraged. Menus for all grades will be messaged on Monday September 4, 2023. Pre-k classes meals are served in classrooms. Breakfast for Grades K-8 served in little cafeteria 7:30 AM-7:55 AM. Please make sure all students items are marked with first and last name.
This year is a new beginning for Saint Joseph School Community. Tardiness will not be acceptable. If we are looking to establish positive partnerships, we must establish good habits to inspire our students to be the best they can be.
The school office hours will be 7:30-3:30 PM. All other hours are by appointment only.
